Our Story Week

In February we organised a Story Week - a whole week of story related work! We opened with a story teller, Tony Wilson, who helped us to make up stories using simple classroom objects.

He encouraged us to use our imagination!

Throughout the week we had to guess which teacher matched up to the childhood photograph as well as their favourite childhood book.

It was really difficult as the teachers looked so different! Well some of them did!

On Wednesday we had a disco. Lots of children dressed up as story book characters. It was good fun.

To see more pictures of the disco click on this link.

Some children wrote letters to famous people to ask them about their favourite children's book. The letters will be sent off soon and the children will hope to receive a reply! Any letters we receive backwill be displayed in school at some point in the fuure.

All work was linked to stories - even maths. Infants completed their number work with activities like joining the dots in 1, 2 or 3s to create  . . . a big bad wolf! They also created stories about good wolves and bad wolves - they can't all be bad!

Time was not left out 'What time is it Mr Wolf? was used in different ways.

A Y3 class spent time making pop up books. This combined simple technology skills with story writing to create a different sort of book.

Other classes made up plays to tell a story about the 'PIG Brother House!'

Two Year 5 and 6 classes visited the Seven Stories Children's museum in Newcastle. A separate page shows more of this excellent visit.

We also had a story teller to work with us.
